A one day Wild Law workshop was held in Melbourne, in partnership with the Environment Defender’s Office Victoria, on 17th August 2012. This was AELA’s first Road Show event. More than 50 people attended and enjoyed a range of Earth centred and environmental law discussions. Attendees included legal practitioners, employees from environmental and community based organisations, government agencies, researchers, students and activists.

What people said about the Wild Law Workshop in Melbourne:
- I attended the recent workshop in Melbourne and found many of the ideas, concepts passionately espoused by participants to be refreshing and incredibly thought provoking and inspiring. I would very much love to be involved in continuing the discussion and action for a Victorian wild law group and would be happy if you could pencil me in to any relevant forthcoming meetings regarding this. Further to this, I would love to assist the EDO as well should you require more willing and passionate volunteers
- I’m writing to say thank you for hosting the Wild Law workshop last week; a great insight into the work that the alliance is conducting and it certainly generated some thought-provoking discussions for us to take away.
- That was one of the best environmental conferences I have attended. Please pass on my gratitude for everyone's time and a big thanks to the wonderful people who provided the food as there were some things I had never tried before. I'm also vegetarian so it was all appreciated along with the fruit provided 😉
- I really enjoyed the workshop - it was great to be able to put some faces to names and discuss wild law with like-minded people. If there are plans for an AELA working group in Melbourne/Victoria, I'd love to be involved.
